What is Anthropology of Design?

Anthropology of Design is a Dubai based independent project exploring designers and cities to understand the influence of local contemporary within their work. They feature designers that draw inspiration from their surroundings and incorporate them in their collections, bringing new perspectives and thinking in design and lifestyle. The company needed an online shop to showcase their collection and stories of exceptional design in a clean and elegant way.

The Challenge & Solution

It is hard to draw the audience’s attention in the fashion industry. That’s why we needed to create a modern and stylish solution for Anthropology of Design, one that would clearly convey the philosophy of the project and enhance sales by exploiting a neat design that brings the collections into the foreground.

Web & Mobile

As with any other emerging medium, mobile has transformed the fashion industry. Most Internet searches now occur from mobile devices, leading to an enormous rise in mobile purchases. From smartphones to tablets to smart TVs, customers expect impeccable integration and ease in use. With that in mind, we created a fully flexible solution that is accessible on all devices. Browsing collections and buying on the spot has never been easier with Bootik.

Brand Development

Aiming to inspire, we built Anthropology of Design’s branding around the simple promise of quality and exceptional design. Anthropology of Design is all about the concept, the exploration and the aesthetic. We wanted to create a logo that is simple and memorable rather than too intricate or complicated. Experimenting with multiple designs, we saw the logo evolve, omitting redundancy and reaching the essence of aesthetic, elegance and style.

Categories

Dividing content into meaningful sections is vital for every online store and Bootik is no exception. Creating a hierarchy not only easy but also appealing is essential to boost the visual aspect of a store and turn shopping into an intuitive and pleasant journey. That’s why we broke Bootik’s content into 6 general sections, helping the customer spot their item of interest right away and effectively navigate through a wide spectrum of choice.

 

Product Details

Every item on Bootik is unique in its own way. Wanting to show that alone we created a simple product details page, highlighting what’s important and leaving out what’s redundant. In order to keep the design enticing, we used graphics to show the product from all sides and angles, while sticking to a short and straight to-the-point written description. Shopping is only one click away, and that is exactly how we want it.

Shopping cart

Giving the customer a good visual of what they are buying lies at the essence of a shopping cart. We show the mere basics of the selected item using an image and a description of it. Bootik’s shopping cart is above all neat and practical; exploiting intuitive interface elements to ensure that adding or removing an item from the digital cart is as easy as a click of a button.

Checkout

When everything has been said and done, all that remains is proceeding with the payment. A well-structured, step by step checkout process is a vital part of any successful online store, and that is exactly how we constructed Bootik’s checkout. Guided and easy to navigate, the process helps the customer complete their online shopping experience fast and effectively, while building an atmosphere of trust and security.

 

Colours

With Bootik we let the content shine through the pages leaving the rest to blend into the background. The colour of choice here is black accompanied by shades of grey, communicating clarity, sophistication and style. Contrast is used to drive actions and the black colour of the logo stands for elegance. Customers are entranced by an atmosphere of honesty and exclusivity creating perfect ground for a one of a kind shopping experience.

Typography

Every little change you make to a word or a body of text can make a huge difference and that is exactly why typography is so important in blending text and graphics into a single organism. Reforma Grotesk, our choice for Bootik, is an award winning font inspired by pre-revolutionary hand composition typefaces. With its 19th century like design, the typeface adds to the clean, modern and elegant look of Bootik’s online store.
