MilkCow is a young, fun and delicious soft serve ice cream café, serving scrumptious milky treats. At Milkcow, they are ‘all about desserts’, producing homemade, organic ice cream with a soft milky texture, served with a variety of intriguing toppings and syrups. The end results, a unique and irresistible treat bursting with memorable flavours. Every menu option has delicious bespoke toppings, from 100% natural honeycomb and freshly made macaroons to candyfloss and tangy syrups.
In recent years, people have higher expectations and shorter attention spans. They are looking for excitement. That’s why we needed to make MilkCow’s website outstanding. Not only would it attract more visitors but it would also make them interested enough to order on the spot. Going along with this trend, we created a micro world which contains all things that the brand wants to communicate. Ranging from their menu all the way to franchise details, this world leaves nothing to chance.
Along with the above, there’s another big shift going on regarding device usage and access points. There’s no point in creating something beautiful if no one is going to see it. That’s why the digital solution for MilkCow was brought to life with this in mind. MilkCow world is fully accessible on any device, from big screen TVs to smartphones, so that we stimulate every ice cream lover in the UAE.
Putting things on paper, or rather on a WATCOM tablet, is the most important phase of every single asset that’s being designed. It sets the global direction of a project and forms the basis for all the steps that are about to follow. It was inspired by our very own Pepperweb Island and the overarching aim was to make it look beautiful. Contextual experiences at their best!
On MilkCow world, everything has a purpose. When the UAE flagged ship reaches the shore, the cow traveller will find MilkCow’s ice-cream stand right in the middle of it all. The boxing ring represents the winning flavour of the month, the catalogue goes for the menu, the honeycombs and the toppings while the castle visualizes the franchise information.
If you look close enough, you’ll understand that each island element was visualized based on what it characterises. We wanted people to enjoy their stay on the island while they explore everything that MilkCow has to offer.
Compartments are accompanied by relevant icons for added ease on user experience and also feature relevant dynamic buttons where needed. When clicked, these prompt a pop-up window that contains all required information.
Nobody likes barren lands. An empty island would serve no purpose, that’s why we decided to populate it with beautiful mascots. Adding to this, there was a need to relate to all website visitors.
Playgrounds would get kids excited, while sunbathing, athlete and musician cows would make the wider population feel closer. Created by our awesome design team, we came up with a wide variety of cow characters in order to relate to every visitor. Similarity is essential in building connection and establishing trust.
MilkCow’s micro world contains quite a few things. Other than the above-mentioned reason, this happened in order to adequately represent everything that their menu has to offer. Different flavors, toppings, baking items and ice cream cups were all designed from scratch by our team of designers.
The project for MilkCow is essentially an experiential website and experiences are meant to be real. To achieve this we used a diverse colour palette. We went for a choice of colours that is directly related to desserts, ice cream flavours and frostings. In that way the experience directly matches the product.
The use of different icons help visitors identify the elements on MilkCow’s micro world in different subcategories but they also help in visual hierarchy and in drawing attention. Pretty self-explanatory. Don’t you think that this is the way to go for a smooth digital journey?
